The Peacock was created because of a breakup.
I couldn't quite get over an ex, and after she hung out in my head for about a year, I tried using those thoughts constructively. So, an image of a peacock popped into my mind, which symbolized beauty and regality, two things I don't think she thought of herself.
It's originally an 8.5"x11" pen dipped into India ink piece, which took 38 hours of me hunched over and hoping that I didn't screw up or that the pen didn't spill its ink into a puddle.
The original piece was bought by a man from India who bought it for his wife. I think this was also the first time I paid rent with an art sale. Although he was happy with the art, he returned it with a note in broken English - "Wife gone. Made wife happy. Make me sad now. Make someone else happy." There was no return address.
So the original is back, hoping to make someone else happy, and I'm super proud of how the print turned out. I checked out a few different print companies, a few different sizes and frame styles, and I'm stoked to say that unless they're side by side, it's tough to say which is the print and which is the original.
